Hans Herrmann

Hans Herrmann (1858 - 1942) was active/lived in Germany.  Hans Herrmann is known for Landscape painting.

Hans Herrmann (1858-1942) studied at the academies in Berlin and Dusseldorf.  During this time he made his first journeys to Holland and Denmark.  He returned to Berlin in 1885.  He became a member of the Academy in Berlin in 1896.

Together with Jacob Alberts, Ludwig von Hofmann, Walter Leistikow, Max Liebermann et al. he founded the progressive group Elf (resignation 1898).  He was a member of the Munich Secession. 

Herrmann left behind a comprehensive oeuvre of Dutch subject matters.  In addition, he is known for his landscapes inspired from his journeys, architectonic views of Berlin and woodcuts. (tm)
