Gwyn Hanssen Pigott

Gwyn Hanssen Pigott (Born 1935) is active/lives in Australia.  Gwyn Pigott is known for Sculpture.

Born in Australia in 1935, Gwyn Hanssen Pigott holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and trained in ceramics in the studio of Ivan McMeekin. She then moved to Great Britain to collaborate with great practitioners such as Bernard Leach, Michael Cardew and Lucie Rie, and set up a studio there before moving to France for a few years near La Borne. On her return to Australia, she set up a studio with John Pigott and then another dedicated to wood-fired porcelain. Her work reveals various influences in addition to those of her masters, notably the importance of the glazes of Song Chinese ceramics. Gwyn Hanssen Pigott also credits the still life painter Giorgio Morandi with inspiring the overall design of her pieces. Her worldwide artistic establishment is undisputed before her death in 2013.1
