Fred Hamilton Daniels

Fred Hamilton Daniels (Born 1872) was active/lived in Massachusetts, New York.  Fred Daniels is known for Marine, landscape painting, camouflage art, educator.

He was a landscape and marine painter of Cape Cod and an active art educator.

Daniels was born in Massachusetts and was enrolled in the Massachusetts Normal Art School in 1889.  He left Worcester in 1897 at age 17 to become Art Supervisor in Buffalo, New York.  He later went to work for Prang Educational Company.  He was fired from that job in 1901 for what was considered "Lack of Loyalty to the Company"  He went on to found the "Applied Arts Guild" a group of art teachers with a new vision of public educational art lessons.  They published several lessons books under the name of The Applied Arts Book.  These were published up to 1920's.  He wrote a book titled The Teaching of Ornament and by 1920 was living with his wife and daughter in Newton, Massachusetts where he was Supervisor of Drawing in the public schools.
