Francisco Xavier Gose

Francisco Xavier Gose (1876 - 1915) was active/lived in Spain.  Francisco Gose is known for Modernism and French art-deco style in graphics and fashion.

Born into a farming family, Xavier Gosé trained in Barcelona at the Llotja school, but his teacher was above all José Luis Pellicer. He was soon noticed for his talent as a draughtsman and worked for a number of magazines. He also did many drawings for the Els Quatre Gats cabaret revue, a Mecca of modernism modeled on the Parisian black cat, where he exhibited. He became He moved to Paris in 1900, where he continued to work for a number of publications, including L'assiette au beurre. He exhibited in Barcelona, Madrid and Paris with Georges Petit. He is known in Mexico and Argentina. Today, his drawings of women are considered true testimonies to women's fashion in the early 20th century. He returned to Barcelona when the First World War broke out.
