Artist Biography & Facts
Ernest Zacharevic

Ernest Zacharevic (20th/21st Century) was active/lived in Lithuania, Malaysia.  Ernest Zacharevic is known for Urban art painting.

Lithuania-born, Malaysia-based street artist Ernest Zacharevic animates public spaces with interactive murals that depict children at play.  “I see my work as an experience rather than an object,” says Zacharevic, who is also known as Zach, Zachas, and, by some, The Malay Banksy, in reference to the notoriously irreverent British street artist.

Leaping off the wall and into the streets, Zacharevic’s images break with the traditions of graffiti by integrating found objects—such as old bicycles, pipes, chairs, and windows—into their compositions.  With their playful illusions, these works encourage pedestrians to pose as part of the scenes, provoking the same childlike curiosity captured in the paintings themselves.
