Emile Charles Joseph Loubon

Emile Charles Joseph Loubon (1809 - 1863) was active/lived in France, Italy.  Emile Loubon is known for Bucolic landscape painting, peasant figures.

Emile Charles Joseph Loubon was a French painter, known for his landscapes of Provence.  He was the son of Augustin François Loubon, merchant, and Anne-Therese Michel. He studied drawing under the direction of Jean-Antoine Constantin, François Marius Granet and Louis Mathurin Clerian, the later whom was Director of the art school of Aix, which had the greatest influence on Loubon.

In 1829, Granet invited Loubon to accompany him for a study trip to Rome, where he studied  architecture and stayed for two years. Although this training was influential, he was more interested in landscape and decided to devote himself exclusively to that subject.

He returned to France in 1831 and moved to Paris where he met the painters Alexandre-Gabriel Decamps, Constant Troyon and Thomas Couture. They worked with him painting figures of lepers on a chest that set on a table for the church Saint-Jean d'Aix.
