Eleanor Rogers Onderdonk

Eleanor Rogers Onderdonk (1884 - 1964) was active/lived in Texas.  Eleanor Onderdonk is known for Landscape, miniature portrait paintings.

Eleanor Rogers Onderdonk is known as a multi-talented artist and teacher and member of one of Texas' finest art families. She painted portraits, landscapes, miniatures and sculpted. In addition, she was a fine-art teacher and administrator.

Eleanor Onderdonk was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1884. She was the daughter of painter Robert Jenkins Onderdonk and sister of landscapist Robert Julian Onderdonk. She attended the Arts Students League of New York and the John F. Carlson School of Landscape painting, Woodstock, New York. She was a student of George Brandt Bridgman, Frank Vincent DuMond, John Fabian Carlson, Alice Beckington, John Christian Johansen, Lucia Fairchild Fuller, and Helen Savier DuMond.

Onderdonk taught at St. Mary's Hall and the Bon Avon School in San Antonio, where she became curator of art at the Witte Memorial Museum and where a Witte Gallery was named in her honor.
