Byron Levy

Byron Levy (1921 - 2015) was active/lived in Louisiana.  Byron Levy is known for Painting, New Orleans streets, jazz, World War II sketches.

Byron Levy has painted watercolors in New Orleans and many other locations for the past 50 years. He graduated from Tulane University in Engineering and served in the Army Air Corps where he started painting to record his overseas activities.  He studied watercolor with many of the leading watercolorists in the United States including Dong Kingman, Bob Woods, Edgar Whitney, Terry Madden, Milford Zornes, Frank Webb, Judi Betts, Stephen Quiller and many others.  He has participated in courses at Tulane University, Newcomb College, the University of New Orleans and other painting and calligraphy workshops.

His travels are recorded in over 150 sketchbooks accumulated during the past years.  Pages from his World War II sketchbook appeared in The Times Picayune in 1995.  A six page illustrated article appeared in the 2000 summer issue of Watercolor Magazine showing Byron Levy's sketches explaining techniques of workshops.
