Beulah Ecton Woodard

Beulah Ecton Woodard (1895 - 1955) was active/lived in California, Ohio.  Beulah Woodard is known for Sculpture, painting.

Born near Frankfort, OH on Nov. 11, 1895. Beulah Ecton moved to Los Angeles with her family in 1903 and settled in what is now the city of Vernon. She studied art locally at Polytechnic High School, Otis Art Institute, and USC. After her marriage to Brady Woodard, she improvised a studio in the rear of her home. A specialist in African subjects, her media included clay, plaster, wood, copper, metal, oils, and papier-maché. She died in Los Angeles on July 13, 1955. Member: LA Negro AA (cofounder, 1937). Exh: LACMA, 1935 (1st solo); Stendahl Gallery, Negro AA (LA), 1937 (1st prize); Raymond & Raymond Gallery (LA), 1955.
