Anton Zaic

Won honorable mention in Camp Roberts Art Contest for his original World War II conception of the ‘Spirit of ‘76’, Aug. 1942. “Exhibitor No. 18: Yugoslav Artist to be Newcomer at Art Carnival. Another newcomer to the annual Art Carnival, which opens its three-night stand on the grounds of the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts this Thursday, is Anton Zaic, Yugoslavian artist. Mr. Zaic came to this country to study in 1938. He entered Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, as a professional student specializing in illustration and fashion drawing. He was given an exhibition of his drawings at Rockefeller Center and later had two works accepted for exhibition in the 1940 New York World’s Fair. Since coming to Dallas in December, Mr. Zaic has executed a number of private portrait commissions. He appeared as guest exhibitor with the Klepper Art Club last March, showing a large landscape and the portrait, ‘Yugoslavian Woman,’ which was exhibited in the New York fair.
