“Pet Portraits of Arcadian Exhibited … Woman Who Traded Rivet Gun for Brush Gained Fame as Artist…The works of Ann Bennett of 28 Le Roy St., a former Lockheed riveter who took up the brush and easel as a between-shifts pastime and wound up one of the outstanding pet portraitists in the country, are being shown at a studio at 1266 E. Colorado St., Pasadena.

Mrs. Bennett didn’t plan to be an animal artist originally. First, she says, her interest was landscapes and desert scenes, and she still has a few around to prove she possesses talent at outdoor scenes.

Began Selling: In 1947, after about six years of what she calls ‘developing her art,’ she decided she would have to get down to serious work. A year, she thought, would be time enough to establish herself. She bought a trailer and struck out.
