Ally Thompson

Ally Thompson (1955 - 2016) was active/lived in Scotland.  Ally Thompson is known for Painting.

Ally Thompson was born in 1955.  He was a Scottish painter of the New Glasgow Boys generation alongside Ken Currie, Peter Howson, Steven Campbell and Adrian Wisnieski.

Thompson studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1975 to 1980.  In 1989, Glasgow's Barbizon Gallery held a solo exhibition of Thompson's work.  The exhibition was visited by the international dealer Norbert Binotti, who brought the artist to international prominence with shows in New York and Paris.

Thompson lived and worked periodically in Provence in the 1990's.  During this time, he was consolidating his international reputation with exhibitions in Europe and North America.  He appeared in galleries such as Flowers East in London. His work is held in a number of collections including The Musée Picasso Paris, and those of Sir Bob Geldolf, Petula Clark, Bono and Sylvester Stalone.
