Thomas Wightman

Thomas Wightman (1811 - 1888) was active/lived in New York, South Carolina.  Thomas Wightman is known for Opulent still life, portrait painting.

A student of Henry Inman in New York, Thomas Wightman was known for engravings and for portrait painting. He was an exhibitor at the National Academy of Design beginning around 1836, and developed a strong clientele in New York City.  He also spent time Charleston, South Carolina, and during the 1840s, did considerable traveling between the two places.  In 1861, he settled permanently in Charleston.
