A prominent Canadian telecommunications engineer, inventor, executive and… a painter, Samir Sammoun was born and raised in Joun, Lebanon; he immigrated to Montreal, Quebec in 1973 and became a Canadian citizen in 1976. In addition to his other activities he has been painting professionally for several decades. (1)

His primary medium is oils on canvas; however, he also works in mixed mediums (watercolors and pastels on paper) as well. His primary subjects are landscapes, seascapes, beach scenes and street scenes. His style is frequently described as Impressionism*; however, it could also be described as Expressionism*, Fauvism*, or Post-Impressionism*.

His education includes studies at the Ecole des Arts et Métiers [School of Arts and Crafts], Beirut (1968 – 1971); and, bachelors and masters degrees (electronics and telecommunications) from the Ecole Polytechnique, Montreal [aka: Polytechnique Montréal] (1973 – 1979).
