Canadian artist Christopher Kier was born in 1959. Christopher Kier is a Canadian master of the centuries old encaustic painting technique which consists of combining pigment with beeswax and applying the mixture to canvas or other surfaces. More recently, he has taken on mixed media; his works consist of organic forms and sculptural qualities that evoke a sense of archaeological ruin. Kier has been a prominent actor in the Toronto art scene since the early 90's. He graduated from OCAD in 1987 and was the founding member of the art collective “Bandit” and the artist-run gallery LOOP. His work has been widely exhibited across North America and Europe and is included in the private collections of Nordstrom, Air Canada and the Park Hyatt.
