Jimmy Murphy (1891 - 1965) was active/lived in California, Illinois.  Jimmy Murphy is known for Comic illustration.

James Edward Murphy was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 20, 1892.  Murphy grew up in Omaha, Nebraska.  A self-taught cartoonist, at age 15 he began selling political cartoons to the Omaha Examiner

Leaving Nebraska in 1910, he spent the next eight years drawing political cartoons for the Inland Herald (Spokane, WA), Oregon Journal (Portland), and the San Francisco Call & Post

In 1918 he moved to New York City to work for Hearst's New York Journal and New York American where he began a comic strip called "Toots and Casper" which ran in national papers until 1956.  He settled in Beverly Hills, California in 1929 and lived there until his demise on March 9, 1965.
