A sculptor in Philadelphia, Luigi Maraffi studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts* with Charles Grafly.  He exhibited work at the Academy from 1914 to 1922 and 1927 to 1929.

Memberships included the Philadelphia Sketch Club*.

The following information recalling the artist is from Thomas Gamba:
I knew Luigi Maraffi in 1959 and 1960 when he sculpted a bust of me as a 9 year old. It was sculpted in clay and cast in plaster to my exact physical dimensions, which Luigi measured with calipers. I can recall long and laborious sittings in his row home studio in South Philadelphia, somewhere around Broad and Morris Streets. I still display the bust in my home.
 
My mother's father was Thomas Benedict Ward, a Philadelphia sculptor who was commissioned to create architectural decorations for buildings such as the INA building in Philadelphia and the Hotel Hershey.
