Wolfgang Mattheuer (1927 - 2004) was active/lived in Germany.  Wolfgang Mattheuer is known for Painting, lithography, graphics.

In addition to Werner Tübke and Bernhard Heisig, Wolfgang Mattheuer is one of the main representatives of the Leipzig school. After visiting school in Reichenbach (1933 to 1941), he completed an education as a lithographer at Carl Werner company in Reichenbach from 1941 to 1944.

In 1945 Mattheuer was wounded at the front in Slovakia. From 1946 to 1947 Mattheuer attended the School of applied arts in Leipzig, where he met his future wife Ursula Neustädt. From 1947 to 1951, Mattheuer studied at the Academy of visual arts in Leipzig with professors Egon Pruggmayer, Walter Arnold and Elisabeth Voigt. Graduation with the graphic diploma.

From 1978 he was a member of the Academy of arts of the GDR. Wolfgang Mattheuer took part in numerous exhibitions and also received numerous awards such. the art prize of the GDR and the national prize of the GDR.
