Walter Kohlhoff (1906 - 1981) was active/lived in Germany.  Walter Kohlhoff is known for Painting.

Kohlhoff was a chronicler of West Berlin and created numerous, everyday and unagitated scenes of the city, mostly focussing on the typical tenement houses and barracks. Our scene shows the Landwehr Canal, not only a place on the river with a bridge crossing, but also the German-German border between West and East Berlin, which was the subject of numerous escape attempts and was therefore patrolled particularly closely by the GDR border guards. Kohlhoff shows the scene devoid of people and yet it is those who live in these houses who were not connected by this canal, but separated for 28 years.
