Joan Clara Ayats (1878 - 1957) was active/lived in Spain.  Joan Ayats is known for Painting and sculpture.

Josep Clarà i Ayats was a Spanish sculptor born in 1878 in Olot, Girona. He studied sculpture in Toulouse, France, and worked in Paris in the studio of Louis Barrias, where he met Maillol, Bourdelle, and Rodin. Rodin's advice helped him to overcome the modernist influences of his early works. 

He presented Torment at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1907, which showed a Rodinian influence. His marble "Twilight" (1913, Museo de Santiago de Chile) showed greater clarity and serenity. He created his first goddess in 1908, which represented the definitive official recognition of his talent. He received several commissions for monuments, such as Serenity on the Ruins of Life (San Isidro Cemetery, Madrid) and Monument to the Catalan Volunteers (Ciutadella Park, Barcelona).
