On June 20, 2003 Jean-Leon Huens (1921-1982) was inducted into the Society of Illustrators' Hall of Fame, joining a long list of great illustrators including Howard Pyle, Norman Rockwell, Maxfield Parrish, Erte and Maurice Sendak. Huens worked for two decades in the U.S. and his illustrations appeared in "The Saturday Evening Post", "Reader's Digest" and "National Geographic"

Jean-Leon Huens was born on December 1, 1921 in Melsbroek, Belgium. He attended the St. Luc Institute and completed his studies at the Academy of La Cambre, in Brussels.
