Gyula Kosice

Gyula Kosice (Born 1924) is active/lives in France, Argentina, Hungary.  Gyula Kosice is known for Neon tube light and hydraulic sculpture.

Moving to Argentina from his native country of Hungary at age four, Kosice studied drawing and sculpture at the Free Academy in Buenos Aires. In 1944, he co-founded the review Arturo, which was succeeded by the publication Invención.

Kosice participated in 1946 in the group exhibition Arte-Concreto-Invención, the same year in which he co-founded the Madí movement and between 1947 and 1954 its magazine Arte Madí Universal.

It was at this time that Kosice began experimenting with neon and fluorescent tubing, for which he was to become so well known. In 1957, Kosice settled in Paris where he created his first hydraulic sculpture.

He has been awarded prizes and has published poems, essays, and interviews with artists as well as the publications Hydrokinetic art in 1968 and arte Madí in 1982.

In 1988 the artist was commissioned to make a sculpture for the Seoul Olympic Games.
