Francesco Iacurto

Francesco Iacurto (1908 - 2001) was active/lived in Quebec / Canada.  Francesco Iacurto is known for Painter, instructor.

He was born in 1908 in Montréal.  He studied from 1922 to 1929 at Le Monument national des arts et métiers, then at L'École des beaux-arts in Montréal with Jean-Paul Lemieux, Paul-Émile Borduas and Sylvia Daoust, finally at L'Académie Colarossi and Grande Chaumière in Paris.  His mediums are oil, pastel, and watercolor.

He started painting and teaching arts for 28 years.  Then he dedicated himself to paint for the rest of his life.  He exhibited portraits and landscapes at the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (1946), at the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts, then in exhibited in numerous other important art galleries across Canada, France and Italy.  He painted in the Vatican Gardens and in Greece.

Iacurto passed away in 2001.

In 1990, he became Knight of the Merit Order of the Italian Republic.  In 1991 he became Chevalier de l'Ordre national du Québec, and in 1992 Order of Canada.
