Donna Phipps Stout

Donna Phipps Stout (Born 1944) is active/lives in Arkansas, Kentucky.  Donna Stout is known for Landscape, still life, and floral painting.

Donna Phipps Stout grew up in Kentucky, and as a child spent her time exploring the woods and fields and drawing.  Her parents, who were both teachers, encouraged her artistic talents and provided her with support and oil paints at a young age.

After earning a Master's degree in fine arts from Indiana University Stout spent a few years painting idyllic landscapes.  She still enjoyed being in nature though in time she was frustrated by not being able to capture the details in the small flowers and plants. She eventually turned to still life painting.  Now Stout brings flowers from her garden in Arkansas into her studio which she then arranges in jars and vases.  Stout focuses on the formal elements of classical painting while creating her still life works.
