Claude-Louis Chatelet (1750 - 1795) was active/lived in France.  Claude Louis Chatelet is known for Landscape painting, drawing, engraving, illustration.

Claude-Louis Châtelet was born in Paris in 1753. He was a French painter, draughtsman and engraver.

He first distinguished himself by his contribution to the monumental work published by Jean-Benjamin de la Borde, Tableaux topographiques de la Suisse. The engravings were published in three volumes between 1782 and 1788.

Claude-Louis Châtelet quickly gained a reputation as a painter of landscapes, which lead him to be chosen as one of the main illustrators of one for the most important works of the eighteenth century : Voyage pittoresque ou Description des Royaumes de Naples et de Sicile, which was published in four volumes between 1781 and 1786 by the Abbé de Saint-Non. In 1777 Châtelet went to Italy with Vivant Denon, making 132 engraved drawings of Naples, the Puglia, the region of Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily.
