Machiko Edmonson began her artistic training in 1981 at the Tama Arts University in Tokyo, where she earned her degree in 1985.  Since 1989, she has lived in London and attended the Camberwell College of Arts from 1989 to 1992.  She then enrolled at the prestigious Goldsmiths College in London from 1993 to 1995.  Here Machiko Edmonson graduated in 1995 with a Master of Fine Arts.

Machiko Edmondson is known for larger than life, photo-realistic close-up paintings of known faces.  `Cascade` created in 2013 is a characteristic work of the artist.  In technical virtuosity it shows the strong Japanese capped face of a young girl.  Particular emphasis is on the eyes that send such an intense look that the viewer is immediately in the wake of the image.  And yet these same eyes look unreal, as if generated on the computer.  This also applies to the pristine beauty and the smoothness of the skin.  With the almost superhuman perfectio   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1732 characters.]  Artist bio
