Rolf Knie

Rolf Knie (Born 1949) is known for Painting.

The painter and artist Rolf Knie belongs to the sixth generation of the famous Swiss circus dynasty. Since 1968 he has appeared as an artist and dancer, and later as a clown. In addition, he formed himself autodidactically as a painter and graphic artist. In 1984, he finally separated from his family's arena and from then on worked as a freelance artist, until 1989 also as a stage and television actor. In the 1980's he became acquainted with paintings that exhibited circus motifs in a partly abstract, partly representational pictorial language, and in which tent screen fragments served as image carriers.
