A popular French Canadian painter, Marcel Fecteau was born in Montréal, Quebec. He has lived in Chesterville, Quebec since 1981.

His mediums are oils, acrylics, watercolors and pastels. His primary subjects are Quebec villages, landscapes, and rural scenes. His style could be described as Fauvism*. The askART record has dozens of excellent illustrations of his oeuvre, including a few rare still lifes.

He is a self-taught painter who worked as a sign painter (for his own company) until 1969 when he turned to easel painting. His first show was at the Galerie Gauvreau [now Galerie Bernard Desroches], Montreal in 1972. At 95 years old (October 2022) Fecteau is in robust health and is still painting.
