Roeland Roghman

Roeland Roghman (c.1627 - 1692) was active/lived in Netherlands.  Roeland Roghman is known for Landscape painting, prints, drawing.

Roelant Roghman probably received his first lessons from his uncle Roelant Savery, with whom he shares the same first name. He frequented Rembrandt's studio during the 1650s. They were friends and not master and student, as Arnold Houbraken tells us in his artist biographies (1718-1721). He was a friend of Gerbrand van Eeckhout and Jan Lievens, but it is above all the landscaper Philips Koninck that he is stylistically close to, particularly in his drawing practice. Roghman was a prolific landscape engraver. His paintings are rarer; some are signed, but none are dated. He sometimes contented himself with the monogram R. which led to several of his paintings being attributed to Rembrandt.
