Rene Babin

Rene Babin (1919 - 1997) was active/lived in France.  Rene Babin is known for Realist style figure sculpture, pencil drawing.

René Babin was born in Paris in 1919, and entered the École des Arts Appliqués in 1935. While there, he attended the sculpture classes of Robert Wlerick and the drawing classes of Charles Malfray for three years, where he became friends with Raymond Martin, Jean Carton and Simon Goldberg.

From 1953, he received many awards, such as the Viking prize and the Paul-Louis Weiller prize awarded by the Institute in 1979 and the Charles Malfray prize in 1991.

He regularly exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon d'Automne and the Salon de la Jeune Sculpture. He also participated in the first exhibition of the group of Nine in 1964, at the Vendôme gallery.

His works are exhibited in two important international exhibitions, one in New York in 1959 and the other in Stockholm in 1970.
