RANDAL M  DUTRA
Born 1958. Living in Castro Valley, California

Artist Randal Dutra says of his work: "I try to let the subject and its surroundings dictate the artistic approach I will take, whether in paint or bronze.  Rather than impose my preference from the onset, I try to openly absorb what I can see before me--then work with the medium that will best communicate my impressions."

At an early age, he began drawing, sculpting and then animating clay figures, mostly dinosaurs and monsters, because of his fascination with movies such as King Kong and The 7th Voyage of Sinbad.  During his youth, he spent nine summers studying animal drawing and composition in British Columbia with well-known wildlife artist, Clarence Tillenius.
