Rafael Pellicer Galeote

Rafael Pellicer Galeote (1906 - 1963) was active/lived in Spain.  Rafael Galeote is known for Female portrait, figure, buildings and still-life painting.

Son of the Cordovan writer, poet and playwright Julio Pellicer and the Cordovan pianist Concha Galeote, Rafael Pellicer was a radically modern painter with Andalusian roots. He was a pupil of Julio Romero de Torres, for whom he felt a great devotion as he was married to his aunt Francisca Pellicer, and of Daniel Vázquez Díaz, whose echoes can be seen in his painting.

He received various scholarships and was awarded several prizes: In 1932 he was awarded the 3rd Medal at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts for his etching El relojero and in 1936 for El cerero", in 1933 he was appointed director of the School of Landscape Painters of El Paular, a post he held until 1936; in 1934 he won the "Molina Higueras y Pascual" prize awarded by the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando for the painting Umbría.
