Kunz Meyer-Waldeck

Kunz Meyer-Waldeck (1859 - 1953) was active/lived in Latvia, Germany.  Kunz Meyer Waldeck is known for Genre-human activity painting.

Latvian painter Kunz Meyer-Waldeck was born in 1859 in Mittau (now Jelgava), Latvia and died in 1953 in Castle Neuburg an der Inn, South Germany.  The artist spent his childhood in Russia, where his father worked as a Professor at the University of St. Petersburg and as a newspaper editor at that time.  He attended high school in Gotha, Germany and in 1879 became a student of the Munich Academy, where he studied under W.v.Lindenschmidt until 1887.  After graduation Meyer-Waldeck started working as a freelance painter. 

He made long trips to Italy, Russia and Portugal and from 1908 until 1910 lived in Dallas, Texas, where he was an art school director.  Later he was appointed a Professor in Germany.  The artist had regular exhibitions in Munich, Dresden, Berlin, St.Louis, Salzburg, etc.  His works can be seen in the Museum of his native town Jelgava, in Kunsthalle Bremen and other museums.
