Art for Sale
George William Mote

George William Mote (1832 - 1909) was active/lived in United Kingdom.  George Mote is known for Painting.

Mote was a largely self-taught artist, who often worked under the patronage of the book collector and antiquarian Sir Thomas Phillipps (1792-1872). Phillipps allowed Mote and his wife to live in Broadway Tower, a folly in the Worcestershire countryside, which he owned, and which commanded sweeping views of the surrounding Cotswolds, a landscape which clearly served as inspiration for the Mote. Mote began exhibiting at the Royal Academy in 1857, thereafter exhibiting regularly there and at the Suffolk Street Galleries.
