Gaspard de Crayer (1584 - 1669) was active/lived in Belgium.  Gaspard de Crayer is known for Painting.

"He never saw Italy, not copied the larger models, yet it almost equaled Rubens color, excelled in drawing, and placed next to Vandick who was his friend (...)" This praise, from the pen of Amaury-Duval painter, pupil of Ingres, was written in 1829 and reflects the prestige and fame had yet Gaspar de Crayer in Europe in the early nineteenth century. Especially when put in perspective with little consideration that could be the master of Montauban for Flemish paintings from the seventeenth century, who asked his disciples to be blindfolded when they passed in front of Rubens paintings in the Louvre. Gaspard de Crayer was born in 1584 in Antwerp, Belgium and died in 1669 in Ghent, Belgium. For Gaspar de Crayer is not one of those artists forgotten after death, and rebirth in a nineteenth century buff prestigious rediscovered, including Vermeer and The Tower are the best examples.
