Christiane Brix Klitgaard May (1876 - 1954) was active/lived in England.  Christiane May is known for Portrait painting, pen and ink drawing children's book illustrations.

The following biography is from Karin K. Lightner, great niece of the artist.

Christiane Klitgaard-May was the next oldest sibling to my grandfather, Carl Edler Klitgaard. She was born 10 March 1876 in Puerto Cortez, West Indies. Her father, Christen Julius Klitgaard, was a Master Mariner for 50 years and sailed over 1,000,000 miles around the globe. Often the Captain had his wife and children aboard, and several of their children, such as Christiane, were born in exotic locations. Christiane was the 6th of 11 children born to the Captain and his wife. 
 
Christiane married Jack Johnstone May (b. August 1874, d. January 1934) on 15 March 1903. Together they had 4 children.  They made their home in England, where Christiane died either 4 May or in June 1954 in Surry, England.
