August Jernberg

August Jernberg (1826 - 1896) was active/lived in Sweden.  August Jernberg is known for Painting.

August Jernberg was born in Gävle in 1826. During the years 1837-1844 he was a student at Hillska boarding school in Barnängen, where he got to know another future artist, Carl d'Unker. After studying at the Art Academy in 1844-1846, August Jernberg traveled to Paris in 1847. The trip was made possible through the money he received on his official day, when the Jernberg estate was sold. August's father, wholesaler Olof Jernberg, had already passed away in 1840 and August had subsequently had his father's business partner A Norman as guardian. When August Jernberg came to Paris in 1847, he began studying in Thomas Couture's studio. During his 18 months at Couture, he became highly regarded by his famous teacher, who later described Jernberg as his best student. From Couture he learned modern French color art and a technically advanced painting method with relatively broad brush strokes and local colors without merging.
