Karl Hodina is an autodictator and a central figure in the school of Viennese fantasists. He was fascinated by the works of the Old Masters and started painting in 1962. His works are known for their complex pictorial structure and technical brilliance, featuring mixed and mythical creatures that suggest an association with Hieronymus Bosch. This particular work is incredibly detailed and reproduces a precise painting style and sharpness even on a small scale. The arch to the Dutch masters could also be drawn in the execution as a triptych.
