Georges Braem was born on September 20, 1931 in Cauderan (Gironde) to parents of Flemish origin. His parents being painters themselves, his vocation was not thwarted.

Braem studied at the Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux, followed by 4 years in a lithography workshop. His painting is not associated with any particular school. His unique work is characterized by glazes on a copper support in a dreamlike, fantastical atmosphere.

Georges Braem died in February 1998.
