Michel Seuphor was an art critic, poet, and artist who was in contact with various avant-garde artists in the 20th century, including Cubists, Dadaists, Futurists, and Constructivists. He lived in Paris from 1925 and co-founded the group Cercle et Carré (later Abstraction-Création) in 1929. Seuphor's pictorial works are characterized by a strict reduction of artistic means and he used gaps in a continuous style of lines to form abstract figures.
