Gudrun Barbara Sibbons

Gudrun Barbara Sibbons (1924 - 2020) was active/lived in Germany, England.  Gudrun Sibbons is known for Bucolic scene painting.

Gudrun Sibbons is a German-born British artist best known for her paintings of bucolic landscapes. Her works are largely inspired by the atmospheric style of 17th century Dutch artists such as Jacob van Ruisdael, and regularly feature epic expanses of sky and sun-dappled clouds.

Employing a detailed, realistic style, she often includes farmers or fishermen in period costume in her work to give a sense of historical context, such as the peasant family in the oil painting Giving Water to the Shire Horses. Born in 1925 in Annaberg, Germany, Sibbons fled Germany during World War II to England, where he began painting in his spare time.

Today, the artist's work can be found in many private collections throughout the UK, including that of the actor Errol Flynn.

He lives and works in the UK.
