Bartholomeus van Bassen was a Dutch painter born in The Hague in 1590. He joined the guilds of St. Luke in Delft, and The Hague in 1613 and 1622, respectively.

Van Bassen specialized in church interiors and fantasy views, and was also a municipal architect in his hometown from 1638 until his death in 1652.
