Ammar Fahrat is one of Tunisia's most influential contemporary painters. He has won numerous awards throughout his career (Prix National, Prix du Dessin Artistique), and has exhibited regularly since the start of his career. Co-founder of the Ecole de Tunis alongside Abdelaziz Gorgi and Pierre Boucherle. 

Fahrat focuses his work on popular culture, expressly opposing the practices of religious and orientalist art as practiced by painters of the previous century. Works by Ammar Farhat are rare on the market.
