Hermann Gustav Simon

Hermann Gustav Simon (1846 - 1895) was active/lived in Pennsylvania / Germany.  Hermann Simon is known for Hunting, dogs, landscape, still life.

Herman Gustav Simon was born in Germany in 1846. The Simon family emigrated to the United States, settling in Philadelphia in 1848. Early in his life Herman Simon displayed an artistic talent. He entered the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and exhibited in the Annual Exhibition of 1863. He also exhibited several paintings at the Centennial Exhibition of 1876. A contemporary of Thomas Eakins at the Academy, Herman Simon came to specialize in animal, sporting and landscape scenes. He exhibited several times between 1876 and 1887 at the Academy and with the Philadelphia Society of Artists in 1879-81.
