Henry Valter was a Birmingham painter who executed works in both in oil and watercolour. Painting landscapes, coastal scenes, genre, rural, and still life. He painted many views in Italy, Bruges, Germany and Holland.

He exhibited in the British Instituion, at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of Artists Birmingham, Dudley Gallery, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Manchester City Art Gallery, and Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street.

His brother Frederick was also a painter.
