Giragos Der Garabedian

Giragos Der Garabedian (1892 - 1980) was active/lived in Vermont, Massachusetts / Armenia.  Giragos Garabedian is known for Landscape and marine painting, teaching.

The artist was the proprietor of the Fenway Art Center in the Back Bay center of Boston and well known for his landscapes and marines. He worked primarily in oils but has done some work in watercolors and tempera. Throughout the years he had numerous showings of his paintings, many of which were done in the Massachusetts art colony of Rockport.

Der Garabedian was sent alone by his parents to the United States at the age 15 from Harpoot, Armenia; they, and other Armenians, remained to face the persecution and eventual massacre by the Turks that took place in the late 1800s and early 1900s. He worked at various jobs to subsist and pay for art studies at the Cooper Union in New York City.
