Christian Morgenstern

Christian Ernst Bernhard Morgenstern (1805 - 1867) was active/lived in Germany.  Christian Morgenstern is known for Landscape painting.

Christian Ernst Bernhard Morgenstern was a German landscape painter.  He is one of the most important representatives of early painterly realism in Germany considered. This reputation he acquired, together with the one year younger Adolph Friedrich Vollmer, already in Hamburg 1826-1829 during both studies, and then, from 1830, together with Wasmann, Dahl and Menzel there in Munich after his relocation.

Morgenstern, born 1769, was the third of six children of Hamburg miniature painter Johann Heinrich.  He married in 1844 Louise Lüneschloß (1804-1874), foster daughter of the miniature painter Carlo Restallino.  The only child of this marriage was the future landscape painter Carl Ernst Morgenstern (1847-1928), father of the famous poet and writer Christian Morgenstern (1871 - 1914).
