Blanche Stillson

Blanche Stillson (1889 - 1977) was active/lived in Indiana.  Blanche Stillson is known for Portrait and landscape painting, teaching.

Miss Stilton, a graduate of DePauw University, formerly taught art history, art and painting at Shortridge High School, DePauw and Herron School of Art, now part of Indiana-Purdue University, Indianapolis.

She wrote Wings, a book about birds published in 1954 by Bobbs-Merrill and later continued  her literary career.

Miss Stilton, in conjunction with Herron School of Art, was elected trustee of the Art Association of Indianapolis, now the Indianapolis Museum of Art, in 1944. She was a member of the board of directors of the association many years, serving as vice president at one time and as acting president in 1959.

She formerly wrote a weekly art appreciation column for The News.

Miss Willson donated Kin Hubbard’s original Books and drawings of the Hoosier humorist and homespun philosopher, “Abe Martin,” and Gaar Williams’ original cartoon sketches to the Butler University library in 1964.
