Adriaen I Nieulandt

Adriaen I Nieulandt (1585/7 - 1658) was active/lived in Flemish, Belgium.  Adriaen Nieulandt is known for Landscape, figure paintings, pastoral scenes.

Adriaen van Nieulandt I (1587-1658)

He was the son of a Dutch family of artists of Flemish origin, whose activity can be traced back to the period around 1561.  He was trained under the painters Pieter Isaacsz (1569-1625) and Frans Baden (1571-1618) in Antwerp.  Van Nieulandt I was active as a painter and engraver primarily devoted his oeuvre to landscape painting, which was animated by profane and biblical themes.  In addition, he was also interested in the depiction of interiors.  Adriaen van Nieulandt I was however not only an artist, but also acted successfully as mediators and broker of artworks.
