Stanislaw Eleszkiewicz (1900-1963)

He was a painter, draughtsman and designer of mosaics, ceramics and stained-glass windows.  He studied at the Mirogrod School of Fine Arts.  During the years 1918-1919 he served in the Russian Cavalry.  During the years 1919-1921 Eleszkiewicz studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts.  In 1922 he went to Italy - where he worked at a ceramic workshop in Naples.  Later on he moved to Rome.  In 1923 he settled in Paris and exhibited at the Paris Salons and in series of galleries. During the years 1927-1945, as a draughtsman and head of the artistic department at Jean Gaudin's workshop, he designed mosaic and stained-glass windows for many French churches.

Eleszkiewicz painted with oil paints, gouaches and tempera as well as pastels.  He created expressionistic portraits and generic scenes often presenting figures named by him as "apasze".  Eleszkiewicz also created urban landscapes.  One can fi   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 2871 characters.]  Artist bio
